Charli Baltimore once recorded a whole album dissing 50 Cent. Charli made the confession during the BET docu-series The Murder Inc. Story, which detailed the label's beef with 50's G-Unit in the early aughts.
“Irv [Gotti] wanted us to just ignore the situation ’cause he felt like we were untouchable,” Charli explained in a clip from the third episode. “I recorded a whole mixtape going at 50 that Irv kinda shut down.”
Charli, who released the tracks “Money” and “Stand Up” in the late 90s before signing to Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. label in 2002, says she disagreed with Irv's reasoning that he didn't want to feed into “the new artists shitting on us to give [50 Cent] more energy.”
“I didn’t feel like that’s how we should handle it because at that point 50 was blowing up in the street,” she says. “That was our social media back then.”
The finale of the doc-series airs today (Sept. 6). Watch Charli detail her musical journey below.
