Roc A Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash recently sat down with The Jasmine Brand and proclaimed Kanye West the new Michael Jackson while discussing jeen-yuhs , the new Netflix docu-series which chronicles the early career of Kanye West. Dash said of his former artist: “I think that this is the right time cause you get insight into who Kanye is, especially because he’s so public, he’s turned into our new Michael Jackson, you know?”

Dash also says that he has quite a bit of archival footage of his own and speaks of his influence on Clarence “Coodie” Simmons who co directs, narrates and filmed the footage contained in the series. “Not to say that I taught [Coodie] to do that, but I was the guy who always ran around with a camera because I knew that those moments were priceless, it was just a matter of when it was time. I was glad that they actually took the advice and did that or at least followed the example. I have a lotta footage, but it’s just the time, Its always about the time" said Dash.

Part 1 of jeen-yuhs is now streaming on Netflix with part 2 debuting February 23rd.
