On Wednesday (3/16) D.J. Scratch announced his resignation from radio station WBLS via his social media accounts. Scratch posted: “I resigned from 107.5 WBLS today. Thank you to everyone that listened to me throughout the years. It’s time to turn the page to a new chapter. Salute.”
The Grammy award winning DJ’s career spans three decades, and within that time he served as opening act for Run-DMC, he became EPMD’s DJ in the late 1980’s, and he has produced 8 platinum selling albums with Busta Rhymes. The Brooklyn born turntablist operates his own multimedia network called Scratchvision and he joined Rock The Bells Radio in October of last year with his DJ Scratch Show.
Most recently Scratch produced the Saturday Afternoon King Fu Theatre full length album with The RZA. “I am one of the biggest Wu-Tang fans so I understand the assignment. I wanted to make that Wu-Tang sound, those sonics and bring back the Kung Fu skits and dialog between the songs because that’s what the fanbase is” Scratch said of working with RZA. Scratch also hosts Trillers Verzuz competitions.
