Comedian Faizon Love got the web talking in 2020 when the funnyman called Jay-Z's drug dealer backstory into question—recently even drawing the attention of Jay himself. In a new interview with VladTV, Love addressed Jay-Z’s lines on Pusha T's song "Neck & Wrist." Jay's verse appears to be in response to a 2020 interview with Vlad, where Love questioned Jay’s “druglord” status.

Love explained to Vlad that he didn’t get it at first.

“It’s some rap thing, and it's not clear. People were asking me what I was gonna do about it,” he said. “First of all, I’m not a rapper. I have no bars. I can only play other ni**a's songs. I listened and he really didn’t diss me. It was some cool shit. I call it like tennis, like back at ya’ love. It’s all love. I think I ruffled some feathers.”

Love also shared that he was a fan of Jay’s debut album Reasonable Doubt and referenced Jay's lyrics from his 2001 track “Never Change”, which Vlad read out loud:

Lost ninety two bricks had to fall back/knocked a nigga off his feet but I crawled back/ had A1 credit got more crack/from the first to the fifth/gave it all back/if I'm not a hustler what you call that?”

"I call it illusion," Love replied. "Imaginary. First of all, he says '92 bricks'—cocaine and crack is different." Vlad reveals that he's researched: Jay later revisited those lines and said that he made only $1000 per brick.

"How is that possible?" Love replied.
