Kanye West Makes It Clear He Has No Interest In NFTs

Hip-hop was quick to dive into the lucrative world of NFTs since the blockchain's massive explosion in popularity in the past year. Rappers from the likes of Run-D.M.C. to Snoop Dogg to Meek Mill have all gravitated towards the NFT space, making millions of dollars in the act. However, if there is one emcee who absolutely is not interested in NFTs anytime soon, it's Kanye West.

The Chicago renaissance man made it clear on his Instagram post on Monday night (February 1) that he has no interest in stepping into the digital art world in that way, saying he only wants to create tangible products in the real world.

"My focus is on building real products in the real world, real food, real clothes, real shelter," he told his 10.5 million Instagram followers. "Do not ask me to do a f**king NFT," he added in the handwritten statement.

In a caption accompanying the image of the note, Ye added: "For now, I'm not on that wave. I make music and products in the real world."

It seems like NFT’s are everywhere in the art world, they have helped boost the profiles and pockets of digital artists, musicians, and designers all over the world.

For those disappointed by his lack of interest in NFTs, he did offer a glimmer of hope: "Ye. Ask me later," he signed off on Instagram.

What do you think about Kanye’s sentiments about Non-Fungible Tokens? Is he missing out on a major check? Stay tuned for more on this and other hip-hop news.
