Lil Wayne Denied Entry Into the U.K.

Lil Wayne has been denied entry into the U.K. according to organizers of the Strawberries & Creem Festival in London where he was slated to headline this weekend.

A statement from festival organizers says Wayne was refused entry to the U.K. directly by the Home Office in a "last minute decision," and called the timing of the ruling "upsetting for all involved."

“Due to extreme circumstances beyond our control or influence, we are very sorry to inform you that Lil Wayne is now unable to perform at the festival on Saturday 18th June,” organizers wrote, adding that they are "deeply disappointed by this sudden and negative ruling." This would've been the rapper's first performance in the U.K. in 14 years.

A spokesperson at the Home Office told Rolling Stone the decision was due to Wayne's past criminal record, saying “any individual who has been sentenced to a custodial sentence of 12 months or more must have their application refused.”

Ludacris will replace Wayne as the headliner on Saturday, June 18. The festival, which takes place at Childerley Orchard in Cambridge, will also include performances from Tems and Ella Mai among others. Saturday ticket holders are being offered free entry on Sunday or discounted tickets for the 2023 festival.
