Atlantucky shot to popularity since officially opening its doors last year, becoming a haven for the city's craft beer lovers, especially for those looking for a diverse, inviting atmosphere in what's traditionally been a predominately white space. The sprawling 6,000-foot brewery and taproom is located in Atlanta not far from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College, and features beer brewed in-house by Scales and fellow Nappy Roots member Skinny Deville. The brewery is well known in Atlanta for its community outreach efforts, regularly supporting local businesses and restaurateurs with vendor opportunities at the location, and hosting cultural events connected to Atlanta's arts scene.
Scales has long been vocal about his desire to draw Hip-Hop into the craft beer space. “We’d go to breweries and we used to be the only black people there,” Scales told Rock The Bells in a previous interview, admitting that initially, their interest in craft beer was mostly a means to promote the group before it developed into a viable business path. “Black people love beer,” he continued. “Why don’t we get to experience the best of beer, which is craft beer? We saw the void and we wanted to bridge that gap.”
