Remy Ma is not here for Doja Cat controversy. The Bronx rap star mentioned Doja Cat during Remy's appearance on Drink Champs earlier this year, and her statement that the Grammy-winner is "not a rapper" went viral, and sparked outcry from Doja Cat's fans. During an interview with Black Compass Media, while promoting her female battle rap league Chrome 23, Remy was asked about the Doja Cat backlash.

"Don’t even bring her up. I thought I was giving [her] a compliment,” Remy Ma said about the controversy. “Her whole entourage or fan base came for my life. I was like, ‘I thought I said something good.' I just woke up one morning like, 'What the fuck I did now? Like, damn.”

Remy also appeared on the FOX series Queens during its first season. The show was canceled in April. Remy Ma appeared on Drink Champs back in March, and during her conversation with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, she was asked for her take on Doja Cat.

"I don't think she's a rapper," Remy said on the episode. "Let's be clear with that. I don't put her in the rapper category. I don't think she's a rapper, but she makes dope records. I think she's dope."
