Coming off the heels of his most recent project, Richer Than I Ever Been, Rick Ross sat down for an interview with HotNewHipHop, covering a wide range of topics, from the new album to his thoughts on the recent deaths of hip-hop giants, like Nipsey Hussle and Young Dolph.

During the interview, Rick Ross reflected on the recent loss of hip-hop icons Nipsey Hussle and Young Dolph, comparing their deaths to the loss of 2Pac and Biggie.

“Losing Nipsey and Dolph for this generation, I’m sure, was just as equivalent or greater to what [Notorious] B.IG. or ‘Pac was for my generation,” Ross explained, who attempted to sign the late Nipsey Hussle early on in his career.

Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot outside of his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019, while Young Dolph was shot and killed outside of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in his hometown of Memphis on November 17, 2021. Biggie and 2Pac were also both fatally shot, with Biggie dying at the age of 24 and Tupac at the age of 25.

Recently, New York City Mayor Eric Adams proposed a ban on drill music, after the death of Bronx emcee Chii Wvttz, who was involved in an ongoing drill rap beef. Adams expressed that he felt that it was his “civic and corporate responsibility” to censor art.
