In case you still didn't know: Snoop Dogg can do everything.
The West Coast rap icon is prepping his latest track, the EDM collaboration "Chai Tea With Heidi," with supermodel Heidi Klum. The track samples Rod Stewart's 1983 track"Baby Jane" and is produced by DJ/producer duo, WeddingCake. The production pair was discovered to be Devon Culiner and Klum’s husband, Tom Kaulitz via EDM.com.
“Party smash hit of 2k22 me n my homegurl Heidi Klum – I know that all of Europe will be hearin in this in tha clubs til 6 in tha mornin,” Snoop Dogg said in a press release, eyeing the song’s potential lasting power. “Lookn forward to getting back overseas n performing it live ya dig?!?!”
This is Klum's first foray into music since the 2006 track "Winter Wonderland." Klum and rock legend Sir Rod Stewart both stated that it's “an honor” to collaborate with Snoop Dogg.
“I’m most honored that these Super Stars have included ‘Baby Jane’ in this memorable song,” says Rod in a statement.
Heidi adds, “I am still pinching myself to make sure this really happened. It was truly an honor to work with Snoop Dogg and WeddingCake to create this fun and upbeat song that will hopefully make you want to get up and dance. This would not have been possible if [the] iconic Sir Rod Stewart didn’t give us approval to use melody and lyrics to his ‘Baby Jane.'”
"I fly back to America and then I'm like, 'OK, let's get this started,'" Klum told PEOPLE. "I called him up and I'm like, 'Hey Snoop, it's Heidi.' He's like, 'What you got?' And I explained this whole thing to him. And then he was like, 'Well, let's make it happen. Come to Inglewood.'"
"Ding dong, here I am, 'Hi Snoop.' He's like, 'Come on in. OK, what you got?' And I was like, 'Well, I got this, you want to hear it?' And he's like, 'Let's hear it.' [After listening to it, he said], 'Oh, it's an EDM [electronic dance music] track,'" she explains. "He was right there with me. He was bumping his head. He was like, 'Oh my God. I feel like I have a melody already. OK. Get the vocal booth ready.'"
