The Notorious B.I.G. had countless legendary songs during his career, but it was often the songs featuring R&B acts that had the most crossover appeal. When it came time to release his sophomore album, the braintrust at Bad Boy Records made sure that several R&B acts were well represented.
For example, Pamela Long from Total sings the hook on "Hypnotize," and 112 delivers an impactful chorus on "Miss U." However, 25 years after Life After Death was first released, we've got some new information to share about the making of "Miss U."
Legendary producer, KayGee, who produced the song, reveals that there was another legendary MC in the studio during the making of, and that the original group slated to sing the hook was replaced.
"JAY-Z was there the first day we started working on it, and Next was originally singing on it, but Puff replaced them with 112," KayGee says.
While JAY-Z would go on to appear on "I Love the Dough" featuring Angela Winbush. Next wouldn't get the opportunity to appear on the project.
