Westside Gunn joins the list of rap artists who have recently announced their retirement. The Griselda MC announced in a series of tweets that 2023 may be his final year.

"'23 def my last year doing this shit," he posted. "I don't have nothing else 2 prove, I put my team on, I put my city on, I worked with everybody I ever wanted to work with, plus MF's still don't even understand 1-10, FLYGOD, Awesome GOD or Pray For Paris."

He went on to call himself the GOAT and listed the various MCs and producers that he has collaborated with. "I've worked with DOOM, Prodigy, DMX and Sean Price all RIP. I've did deals with Jay-Z and Eminem," he said.

He then clarified the seriousness of his announcement, admitting that this isn't his first time. “I know I say I’m a retire all the time so ppl might be like he always says this, seriously I been thru so much with this shit behind closed doors y’all would never know," he said. "It’s brought more pain than joy I’m just so G that I make it look super easy but I fight these devils every day. What makes me also the GOAT is not only have I made the best albums personally in the last decade but I also executive produced the best albums in the last decade and they all sounded diff and made every artist sound immaculate. Listen to them all again, the beats are all NEXT LEVEL."

He assured us that any projects that fans are anticipating this year will be completed and released, and he expressed that he will still curate and executive produce projects.
