Heavy D is remembered as one of Hip-Hop's most beloved personalities and a fixture on urban radio in the 1980s and 1990s. The man born Dwight Myers gave rap fans a plethora of classic tracks: from "We Got Our Own Thang" to "Black Coffee" and "Nuttin' But Love."

But Heavy D is also one of the most consistent producers of his generation. Behind the boards, Heavy D was able to craft music that furthered the evolution of Hip-Hop soul in the mid-1990s. It would make sense that one of the pillars of Uptown Records would play such a pivotal role in the melding of Hip-Hop and R&B. He was a star born of the new jack swing era, and his work with Eddie F. heralded that sound's evolution into what came next.

He could tap into his Caribbean roots, go hard NYC boom bap, or deliver somewhere in-between. But we can all marvel at the versatility and craftsmanship of Heavy D as a producer over this handful of tracks.
