Netflix announced on Wednesday (7/27) an upcoming documentary, Untold: The Rise And Fall of And 1.

"Born out of the playgrounds of New York City, the 'And 1 Mixtape Tour' took streetball to the masses, challenging convention and picking up a team of basketball misfits along the way.," the streaming service said in a statement. "'The Rise and Fall of And 1' traces the journey of how three young friends with a dream of bringing greater acclaim to the game they loved, connected with the underground artform of streetball, and ended up flipping the billion-dollar basketball industry on its head."

Important And1 figures and streetballers are featured in the doc according to the statement. "AND1 co-founders along with streetball legends The Professor, Hot Sauce, Skip 2 My Lou, The Main Event, Shane the Dribbling Machine and more reflect on their experience and the brand's journey."

AND 1 was founded in 1993 as a grad school project between Jay Coen Gilbert, Seth Berger and Tom Austin at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School where they sold t-shirts from the trunks of their cars. The name of the company originates from the term that basketball players and sports broadcasters use to announce that a free throw will be awarded to a player who was fouled, and if that player successfully makes the free throw they will be rewarded 1 point.

Future Hall of Famer Stephon Marbury became the brand's first NBA ambassador in 1996, opening the doors for many players who would sign with them later. In 1988 a videotape filled with streetball stunts performed by NBA newcomer Rafer Alston over Hip-Hop music was delivered to AND 1 by a high school coach in New York, launching the legendary AND 1 mixtape.
