The first annual Wav Music Festival is set to take place in Atlanta this May. The first of its kind DJ festival whose concert concept highlights the DJ as the headliner, will showcase turntable talent from all over the world.
"There is great economic disparity in DJ culture," festival founder, Bakajika Tshinanga said in a press release. "We see Rock, EDM and pop music DJs bringing in millions of dollars in revenues and ‘our’ DJs who are responsible for the existence of this industry from Hip Hop to Reggaeton, not doing the same numbers."
Turntablists like South African powerhouse Major League DJZ, Columbian artist Rosa Pistola, Nigerian born Brooklyn based DJ Tunez are all slated to hit the stage along with Spinall, DJ Tunezand Major League DJZ. There will also special recognition paid to Atlanta music trailblazers, producer/executive/DJ Kwan "KP The Great" Prather and mega producer/DJ Bruan Michael Cox.
The Wav Music Festival takes place on May 27, 2023 at the historic Underground Atlanta’s outdoor pavilion. Two more Wav events will take place following the May installment — one on July 22 and the final event taking place on Sept 23. Hit the link for more info.
